i see your true colours shining through.
[/justify]it was ridiculously early. well. perhaps that was a lie. it was like ten in the morning, but that felt really really early to nate, he was so used to sleeping in until at least one in the afternoon, especially as it was the holidays. nate hated early mornings more than anything, getting up for school was ridiculously difficult to do for him, he basically slept through any morning lessons that he had, and then was awake for the afternoon ones. he was seriously hoping that this year his schedule would be far better and that he’d have frees most mornings, which would mean not having to get up until at least eleven. that would definitely be bliss. it wasn’t as if he was taking that many subjects so it was possible that he could have all afternoon lessons. the school had only allowed him to take three subjects, because he’d actually only passed two of his gcses, and they also used the ridiculous excuse that they didn’t want to strain him too much mentally. that was a horrible patronising thing to hear, it wasn’t as if his childhood cancer had affected his brain in anyway what so ever. so sure he hadn’t been at school from year five until year eleven and so hadn’t really learnt any of the stuff the other kids had, but that didn’t mean that he needed to be patronised, and told that he wasn’t able to take the work load. so in the end he had taken three a levels, ones he was more suited to. fine art and graphics were two fairly obvious subjects because he was a massively artistic person, because art had been really the only thing that had kept him sane during his treatment. and then quite weirdly he was also taking english literature. sure, he was dyslexic, so reading and writing was difficult, but the fact that he was so creative really helped with english lit. maybe he wouldn’t pass that well but if he did pass it would be pretty amazing. so yeahh, he wanted all of these two end up as afternoon lessons purely because it would be so much easier to concentrate in the lessons.
nate groggily got out of bed. he shared a room with his twin brother zach, who happened to be still sleeping. he didn’t really want to wake his brother, he was pretty sure he’d been out late last night at some party that nate hadn’t really been bothered to go to. he’d probably need to sleep off the unholy amount of alcohol that nate assumed he’d drunk. the party scene was really a major part of being a sixth former. i mean stuff the work, the drinking and smoking, and sex and raves was so much more important. nate tiptoed across the messy room. there were clothes everywhere. tidiness was not a strength of nate’s what so ever, he just couldn’t be bothered, and really it was another thing for his mother to have a go at him about. constant nagging about this and that was just bugging him a massive amount. he couldn’t wait to get out of the house and get to uni. sure he absolutely loved his family, but it was really very important for him to live his life for him, and not do what they wanted him to do. he’d had to live his life for them for about five years, and really he was just fed up of doing that. nate really wanted to be his own person, having them patronising and destroying his life was just ridiculous. he sighed, and gave up thinking like that. he’d thought too negatively recently. nate headed for the shower, and quickly washed. he felt a lot more awake in the mornings after he’d had a decent wash. the tall dark haired boy changed quickly into a comfortable grey v neck, and jeans. it was still summer so there was really no need for a jacket. compared to the rest of the uk, cornwall was actually fairly warm being as southern as it was.
with nothing much else to do, it being the holidays, and nate being far too lazy to go and do anything worthwhile, such as his english coursework which really was hanging over his head. work was just something that didn’t interest him in anyway what so ever, there was so not any point to it at all, and he felt the world would be a much better place without it. nate headed out of his house, putting on his sunglasses. he thought starbucks would be a cool place to go. he liked starbucks a lot. coffee was literally one of his favourite drinks ever, of course after alcohol. he’d once been on holiday to the isle of wight with his parents before (thrilling, i know) and he’d been completely dismayed to find out there was no starbucks there, because basically he had at least three cappuccinos from there each week. it was a life saver for him, and also a great place to meet people. i mean when sitting on your own, it was normal for people to come up to you and just begin a conversation. nate kinda liked it, he was really sociable and so it was pretty easy for him to make friends, and people chatting was always great. he reached the starbucks, and headed inside, immediately ordering his cappuccino. he waited, and then headed to a table by windows with his drink. sipping at his coffee he gazed at all the people going by.
